Appleby Booms B330-S For Wire-To-Wire Win in Houston
Amazing Aussie Relies on Full Bag of Bridgestone Gear in Becoming Third Multiple Winner of 2006
Covington, Ga. — PGA TOUR superstar Stuart Appleby dominated the Shell Houston Open this past weekend, winning by
six shots in wire-to-wire fashion, on his way to joining Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson as the only multiple event winners
on TOUR in 2006. In his second victory at the Houston Open (first coming in 1999), Appleby used his Bridgestone Golf J33
series of equipment and TOUR B330-S golf ball for impressive power off the tee and acute approach shots that yielded a field
best 24 birdies, and a tournament record six shot margin. With his victory, Appleby jolts himself into a 4th place position
on the 2006 Money List.
Appleby relied on the Bridgestone TOUR B330-S ball, Bridgestone J33P driver, J33B Blade irons and J33 7-wood on his way
to rounds of 66-67-69-67, in taming the brand new Tournament Course at Redstone, in 19-under par. The Bridgestone TOUR B330-S
features a Soft Speed Elasticity Core for increased initial velocity at impact for increased distance off the tee. This
was never more evident than on the 72nd hole, when Appleby boomed a 354-yard drive down the middle, reducing the mammoth
480-yard, Par 4 finishing hole to a wedge approach shot.
"The B330-S is just awesome in windy conditions. The Bridgestone engineers tell me it's the dimple pattern and the seamless
cover – all I know is it really cuts through the wind," said Appleby. "Combine the B330-S ball with the Bridgestone irons
and driver and you have a powerful combination. I've said it before, I think the right combination of ball and clubs is
an important element of performance. Talk about having great tools to get your job done."
In addition to topping the field in birdies for the week, Appleby also counted on his Bridgestone gear to gain a top-30
finish in six other statistical categories, including driving distance, driving accuracy, sand saves, putts per green, putts
per round and a second place finish in greens-in-regulation.
"Stuart did not just dominate one aspect of the game this week, he did well in just about every statistical category," said
Darrell Moy, Manager of Tour Operations for Bridgestone Golf. "The performance was very impressive, and from a brand standpoint
with this win coming on the heels of Fred Couples play at the Masters, editorial awards for our clubs and balls and more
demand than ever for our products from retailers we're feeling very good about 2006."
The Bridgestone TOUR B330-S, J33P driver, J33 7-wood and J33B blade irons are all currently available at golf specialty
stores and green grass retailers nationwide.
