Bridgestone Extends Gravity Chamber Line With New Hybrid Offering
Matt Every Agrees to Multi-Year Deal to Play Bridgestone Golf Ball and Irons
Covington, Ga. — Bridgestone Golf announced today the latest expansion to the Gravity Chamber line, the Bridgestone
Golf GC Hybrid utility clubs. The GC Hybrids utilize the same weight management concepts first employed in the GC.MID and
GC.OS irons, removing inefficient weight from an area of the clubhead and repositioning it for maximum forgiveness and feel.
The GC Hybrid utility clubs feature a Gravity Chamber in the sole of the clubhead, from which weight has been removed. Through
Bridgestone Golf's proprietary C.A.D. process, 20 grams of weight has been repositioned by thinning out clubhead walls and
the Gravity Chamber. The weight is then applied to two Gravity Weight Pads that are located internally in the sole on either
side of the Gravity Chamber. The repositioning of the weight creates a center of gravity that is low and deep in the heel
side of the club. The result is that the GC Hybrid is easier to hit high and draw.
In addition, the repositioned weight helps to promote maximum moment-of-inertia resulting in less twisting of the clubhead
at impact, even on mis-hits, offering forgiveness that golfers of any skill level appreciate.
Another distinguishing feature of the GC Hybrids is their Progressive Leading Edge design. The series features five different
lofts. As loft increases throughout the series, the leading edge gets progressively sharper to prevent the skipping off
turf typically associated with higher lofted hybrid clubs. To inspire confidence at address, the face height gets deeper
and the width of the sole wider as lofts increase.
From an appearance standpoint, the GC Hybrids feature a unique Contrast Crown Design (CCD) creating an easy alignment aid.
The CCD features a matte black crown that is easily distinguishable from the satin silver club head, allowing golfers to
aim their shots with more confidence.
"With the feel and forgiveness that players are experiencing from the GC.MID and GC.OS irons, there has been a large volume
of customers asking for utility clubs that offer similar technological benefits," said Mike Moxie, Golf Club Marketing Manager,
Bridgestone Golf. "There may be even more Gravity Chamber series products in the future, but right now we are delivering
on the request for better hybrids."
The GC Hybrids are constructed from 17-4 stainless steel and are available in 16-degree, 19-degree, 22-degree, 25-degree
and 28-degree lofts. The GC Hybrids come standard with a lightweight GC Hybrid shaft co-designed by Aldila® for greater
launch angle and increased carry distance. The clubs also feature a Golf Pride® Gravity Chamber grip. Custom options for
grips and shafts are available.
The Bridgestone Golf GC Hybrids will feature a suggested retail price of $179 (graphite) per club and will be available
at golf specialty stores and green grass retailers nationwide, beginning February 2007. For more information on the GC Series
