Willy Mac Gives New B330-S Its First Tour Win
MacKenzie Relies on New 4-piece B330-S in Shootout at Viking Classic
Covington, Ga — Just one week after making an impressive debut at retail, the new Bridgestone Golf
TOUR B330-S registered its first win on the PGA TOUR, in the hands of Will Mackenzie
at the 2008 Viking Classic in Madison, Mississippi. Mackenzie set the back nine at Annandale Golf Club ablaze on Sunday,
registering birdies on three of the final four holes (#15, #16 and #18) in order to reach a three-way playoff. In the playoff,
MacKenzie relied on the enhanced distance and feel on the new 4-piece Bridgestone TOUR B330-S to birdie #18 twice more for
the victory and the $648,000 winner's purse.
"Will has been playing well since he's returned from injury, so we knew it was only a matter of time until he'd find himself
in the winner's circle again," said Dan Murphy, Senior Director of Marketing – Bridgestone Golf, Inc. "We are also very
excited to now have a PGA TOUR win for the new B330-S. The ball had a phenomenal debut at retail in early September and
its new 4-piece construction has been well received on TOUR."
MacKenzie utilized the soft feel of the new B330-S to finish near the top of the short game statistical categories at the
Viking Classic, averaging 26.3 putts per round, 1.604 putts per green-in-regulation and converting 75% of his sand save
opportunities. In addition, MacKenzie finished 3rd in birdies for the week, recording 24 for the tournament.
NEW TOUR B330-S
The 2008 version of the Bridgestone Golf TOUR B330-S features Bridgestone's brand new dual-mantle 4-piece construction technology.
While some 4-piece balls feature a dual core, the Bridgestone TOUR B330-S has dual mantle layers, providing several advantages
over other 4-piece premium balls on the market. For instance, the new inner mantle used in both balls provides reduced spin
and a smoother energy transition resulting in even more distance off the tee. The inner mantle also performs better in windy
conditions, giving the ball flight a more piercing trajectory making it less apt to be affected by sudden gusts. Furthermore,
the new B330-S features a slightly softer core and cover for increased touch on the greens and even better spin performance
on half wedge shots.
The new B330'S utilizes Bridgestone's Gradational Compression Technology in its core to produce greater repulsion, resulting
in unparalleled distance off the tee. The Bridgestone B330-S features a SOFT Gradational Compression Core for enhanced feel
off of irons and wedges.
The 2008 B330 family of balls feature a street price of $42.99 per dozen (suggested retail price of $56 per dozen) and is
available now at golf specialty stores and green grass retailers nationwide.
In addition to the new B330-S, MacKenzie also relied on Bridgestone Golf J33 Blade irons
(3-9) in his victory at the Viking Classic.
