Kuchar Relies on Bridgestone for First Tour Win in 7 Years
Bridgestone Tour Team Member Trusts 4-piece B330-S and new J38 Driver in Victory at Turning Stone Resort Championship
Covington, GA - In Verona, New York, this weekend - former U.S. Amateur Champion - Matt Kuchar relied on his Bridgestone
Golf arsenal to help him survive difficult weather conditions and endure a six-hole sudden death playoff in route to winning
the 2009 Turning Stone Resort Championship. The victory earned Kuchar a $1.08 million first place check and vaulted him
into 25th place on the 2009 PGA TOUR OFFICIAL MONEY LIST (the top 30 finishers at season's end earn invitations to the 2010
Masters and U.S. Open). With the win, his second career PGA TOUR title, Kuchar has inserted himself into consideration for
2009 PGA TOUR COMEBACK PLAYER OF THE YEAR
With rain and wind playing a factor throughout the weekend, the event placed a premium on accuracy and the ability to recover
after an errant shot. Kuchar did the latter better than the competition this weekend, carding par or better in nearly 3
out every 4 attempts when missing a green-in-regulation. In addition, Kuchar used the new Bridgestone J38 prototype driver
to improve his driving accuracy from his season numbers of fewer than 65% of fairways hit to more than 75% this week, none
more critical than the 78th hole where his opponent found water off the tee.
"Matt has easily had his most consistent year on the PGA TOUR this year, recording top 10 finishes in several big events
and now recording a win," said Dan Murphy, Senior Director of Marketing - Bridgestone Golf, Inc. "We were confident that
it was just a matter of time until he broke into the winner's circle again and we're happy that he did so relying on Bridgestone
balls and clubs."
In his victory Kuchar had the following Bridgestone equipment in his bag:
- 2009 Bridgestone Golf TOUR B330-S Golf Ball
- Bridgestone J38 prototype driver (9.5 degree)
- Bridgestone Golf J33 AirMuscle #3
- Bridgestone Golf WC Design Wedges (54 and 60 degree)
- TourStage Z101 irons (4-PW)
