Bridgestone Tour Team Member Ai Miyazato Becomes World's #1 Ranked Woman Golfer with Victory at Shoprite Classic
Miyazato Records 4th LPGA Victory of 2010 With TourStage golf ball.
GALLOWAY, NEW JERSEY - Japan's Ai Miyazato used a blistering final round
64 to best her nearest competitor, and fellow Bridgestone Golf LPGA Team member
M.J. Hur, by two shots at the 2010 ShopRite LPGA Classic, securing her fourth LPGA
TOUR victory of 2010. With the victory, Miyazato becomes just the 4th golfer to
ever hold the coveted #1 spot in the Rolex Rankings.
Miyazato won the event with a TourStage X-01G+ prototype golf ball, manufactured
by Bridgestone and popular in Japan where its Tour-level performance is often compared
to the Bridgestone TOUR B330-S, the company's comparable ball played in the U.S.
on the PGA, Champion and Nationwide Tours. Miyazato earned $225,000 for her victory,
and expanded her lead on the 2010 LPGA Money List to nearly $275,000 more than the
#2 earner. The victory in Galloway, New Jersey, was Miyazato's first ever on U.S.
soil.
Bridgestone Makes Presence Felt on LPGA Tour
In addition to Miyazato, 10 other LPGA players relied on the consistency and performance
of Bridgestone balls at the 2010 ShopRite Classic, including Paula Creamer and second
place finisher Hur, who plays the B330-RX. In her return from what has been a series
of nagging injuries, Creamer carded a tournament total 10-under par 203, good enough
for a 7th place finish, while Hur carded a tournament total 14-under par.
