Couples Relies on Bridgestone B330 in 4th Champions Tour Victory of 2010
Bridgestone Equipment Helps Propel 'Boom Boom' to Magical Final Round Comeback Win
COVINGTON, GA - At this weekend's Administaff Small Business Classic at The
Woodlands, Fred Couples scorched the field for a 7-shot come-from-behind victory
and recorded his fourth Champions Tour win of 2010. In doing so, Couples launched
himself back into contention for the season-long Charles Schwab Cup, where he is
currently in second place. Couples earned $255,000 for his victory, and brought
his 2010 Champions Tour season earnings to $2,271,894 - second only to Bernhard
Langer.
Couples used his TOUR B330 golf ball and
J38 Dual Pocket Cavity irons
to record 7 birdies and 2 eagles in his tournament record final round 63 (9-under
par), including a stretch of five birdies and one eagle on the back nine for a tournament
record 29. For the tournament, Couples was 17-under par and finished at or near
the top of several statistical categories for the week, including Driving Distance
(5), Driving Accuracy (2), Greens-in-Regulation (T3), Birdies (1), Eagles (1) and
Putts Per GIR (4).
"Fred's performance yesterday was one for the ages," said Dan Murphy, Bridgestone
Golf - Vice President of Marketing. "When Fred is hitting his irons with that amount
of precision and making everything he looks at on the greens, there may not be a
more exciting player in all of golf. We are thrilled that Fred is in the hunt for
the Charles Schwab Cup. We're eager to see what he has in store next at the Charles
Schwab Cup Championship in two weeks, at Harding Park."
