Bridgestone E-Series Balls Continue History of Category Dominance Capturing 2 Gold Medals in 2011 Golf Digest Hot List
COVINGTON, GA — Bridgestone Golf, the #1 Ball-Fitter in Golf, continued
its recent dominance of the Golf Digest Golf Ball Hot List's $21-30 price category
as the e5 and e6
both took home gold medals in the 2011 edition. Bridgestone is the only golf ball
manufacturer to win two gold medals in any single price category in the 2011 Hot
List.
With its 2011 gold medal, the Bridgestone e5 has now earned three gold medals since
2007. As the only 2-piece urethane cover golf ball on the market the e5 was praised
by Hot List judges for its "exceptional construction, cover material and short-game
spin." In addition, the ball received accolades for its new Dual Dimple Technology
cover that provides even longer distance off the tee, while maintaining its same
great feel and spin greenside.
"The e5 is just an awesome golf ball for those golfers who crave the tour-like greenside
spin of a urethane ball, but don't want to pay a premium price," said Dan Murphy,
Vice President of Marketing - Bridgestone Golf, Inc. "In fact, the Golf Digest Hot
List spin study found the e5 to have comparable spin to several other leading premium
balls including the Pro V1. The fact that golfers can get comparable spin control
and performance to the best-selling ball in golf for about $20 less per dozen should
certainly grab the attention of smart consumers."
The e6 golf ball was the other e-Series stalwart to take home another gold. While
the ball hasn't quite reached Michael Phelps level of gold achievements, the e6
has now taken home a gold in every Hot List since 2007, giving it a total of 5 of
the coveted awards. In addition, the e6 also recorded 3 category leader designations,
getting recognized as the leader in the $21-30 category for performance, innovation
and feel. Since the Hot List's inception, no other golf ball model has received
more category leader designations in the $21-30 category than Bridgestone's e6 with
8. Like its sister e5, the Hot List judges praised the e6's new Dual Dimple Technology
cover for delivering better distance to an already "panelist favorite."
"The e6's ability to help players hit the ball long and straight, while still offering
the premium feel of a 3-piece construction makes it a no brainer for a large universe
of golfers," said Murphy. "It really shows why this ball is the #3 best-selling
ball off-course, in the industry, according to the latest Golf Datatech report."
The e5 and e6 both
feature a street price of $26.99 per dozen and are available at green grass retailers
and golf specialty stores throughout the country. The e6 is also available in Optic
Yellow and Optic Orange for those golfers looking to add some color to their games.
