First Tour Ball Series Optimized For Amateurs Unveils New Designs for Superior Performance
B330-RX Family's New Cover and Mantle Lead to Longer Distance and Greater Accuracy
COVINGTON, GA — Bridgestone Golf, the #1 Ball-Fitter in Golf, unveiled
today its new TOUR B330-RX line of balls. Bridgestone is noted for being the first
manufacturer to deliver true TOUR performance in a ball designed for amateur swing
speeds less than 105 miles per hour. The popular 3-piece B330-RX balls now feature
a newly patented mantle layer and proprietary Dual Dimple Technology for longer
distance, better accuracy and optimized greenside performance. The new balls will
be available at retailers nationwide March 2012.
The concept for the original B330-RX and
B330-RXS (tour performance for moderate
swing speeds) was a result of Bridgestone's industry-leading ball-fitting service.
Using data from real amateur swings, Bridgestone identified that nearly 75% of golfers
have swing speeds that prevent them from properly compressing the traditionally
firmer TOUR ball cores. By designing a softer core Urethane cover ball, Bridgestone
changed that, providing moderate swing speed players the compression ability they
needed with the greenside performance they desired.
Having now fit over 150,000 amateur golfers worldwide, Bridgestone has access to
more amateur golf swing data than ever before. With that knowledge, Bridgestone's
R&D team identified opportunities to enhance the performance of both the
B330-RX and B330-RXS through
changes to the mantle layer and cover in 2012.
One of the most significant changes is the newly formulated mantle layer material.
The reformulated blend of mantle material is designed to further reduce sidespin
and backspin on longer golf shots. The resulting pinpoint accuracy contributes to
better distance performance from the tee and precision approach shots that lead
to shorter birdie putts.
The new B330-RX and
B330-RXS models also feature redesigned covers. Bridgestone's proprietary
Dual Dimple Technology delivers an aerodynamic boost with a visually noticeable
difference. The smaller inner dimples of the cover increase thrust power at launch
for greater distance while the larger outer dimples promote a shallow angle of descent
for increased roll out upon landing. These improvements, at takeoff and landing,
result in greater overall distance performance and more consistency in the wind.
"The RX series was the first of its kind and it created a brand new category in
golf balls," said Brandon Sowell, Director of Marketing - Bridgestone Golf, Inc.
"For 2012, using our unparalleled materials science and aerodynamics expertise,
we took two already incredible golf balls and made them longer and more accurate,
while maintaining the greenside spin and feel golfers love. Our patented technology
is unmatched, and with the wealth of amateur data we have on the performance of
our golf balls versus those of our competitors, we can unabashedly say we have the
best Tour performance balls for moderate swing speed amateurs, bar none."
The new B330-RX balls feature a street price of $44.99 per dozen (MSRP $58.00 per
dozen) and will be available March 2012 at golf courses, golf specialty stores and
sporting goods retailers nationwide. In addition to traditional white, the B330-RX
will also be available in Optic Yellow. A limited edition 2-sleeve pack (1
B330-RX sleeve, 1 B330-RXS sleeve)
will be available for golfers wanting to try each of the new models. The trial pack
will be available at retail in March 2012 at a street price of $19.99.
