Hudson Swafford Uses Bridgestone Tour B330 Golf Ball to Win PGA Tour's CareerBuilder Challenge

January 23, 2017

Hudson Swafford became the latest Bridgestone Golf staff player to capture a PGA Tour title, relying on the Tour B330 ball to record a dramatic win at the CareerBuilder Challenge this past weekend on the famed Stadium Course at PGA West in La Quinta, CA.

The 29-year-old birdied 3 of his last 4 holes to fire a final-round 5-under 67 for his first Tour victory. He trusted the B330 to produce longer drives and better greenside spin in part due to Bridgestone's proprietary Tour Core and SlipRes Cover technologies.

"Going into Sunday, I was a few strokes behind, but hit some really tight approach shots down the stretch to set up birdie opportunities," says Swafford. "I have complete confidence my ball is going to do exactly what I need it to."

"Hudson is one of the Tour's rising young superstars and it's exciting to see him reach his potential using our products," says Angel Ilagan, President and CEO of Bridgestone Golf. "Bridgestone products help professional and amateur players shoot lower scores and have more fun."

Bridgestone Golf "is breaking away from the pack in everything we do," says Ilagan, noting that Swafford's win comes a month after the company signed Tiger Woods to a multi-year agreement to exclusively play and promote its high-performance balls.

Woods selected the Tour B330-S ball after thoroughly testing it against competing models from all major brands. Through his personal research, he determined the Bridgestone ball provided superior distance and accuracy off the tee for him, as well as optimal spin on shots into and around the green.

FedEx Cup champion Brandt Snedeker, Olympic bronze medalist Matt Kuchar, Masters winner Fred Couples, three-time major champion Nick Price and young phenom Bryson DeChambeau have all won using Bridgestone products. Scores of fellow professionals – including 2016 winners on the PGA and LPGA Tours – choose to use Bridgestone balls without compensation.

Engineered to perform optimally for highly skilled golfers, Tour players' findings align with what Bridgestone ball-fitting sessions with amateurs have proven. Data from these sessions show the B330 Series is 7.4 yards longer and 44% straighter than the leading competitor*.

The catalyst for distance and accuracy gains is the patented TOURcore, producing faster speed and less spin off the driver via Bridgestone's gradational core formulation. For increased greenside control, the B330 wears the breakthrough SlipRes cover, which increases stopping power without the usual negative effects of added driver spin.
