Job Category

Position Summary

Directs shipping and some warehousing activities for organization by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and Prioritize shipments so that each accounts delivery window can be followed appropriately.
  • Clarify and validate picking and shipping requirements according to the routing guidelines. (Use of label and other proprietary web interfaces is required).
  • Correspond with National Retail account to obtain information required for purchase order extensions, needed supplies. 
  • Investigate and resolve disputed chargebacks to maintain corporate compliance of National Retail Account shipping agreement.
  • Provides detailed shipping advisement to the third-party logistics partner.
  • Responsible for the verification of incoming and outgoing offsite warehouse shipments, handling, and disposition of materials, and keeping warehouse inventory current.
  • Confers with department heads to ensure coordination of warehouse activities with activities of offsite warehouse other functions such as production, sales, records control, and purchasing.
  • Organizes, and participates with, physical inventory
  • Reviews pick tickets, bills of lading, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules.
  • Review carrier freight bills for accuracy and compliance in order to maintain corporate shipping policies including monthly freight budget.
  • Processes returns at warehouse using the ERP system
  • Maintain special handing files for accounts with specific shipping and labeling instructions.
  • Uses key business judgement in selecting the most economical means of shipment
  • Exercise teamwork by performing other back up duties in support of the Logistics Department.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience                                                   

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills                                                

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills                                                     

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability                                             

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
