(COVINGTON, GA) – Bridgestone Golf, the official golf ball sponsor of the Vanderbilt Men’s Golf Team, congratulates the Commodores on their victory at the 2017 East Lake Cup.
Vanderbilt defeated the University of Oregon in the semi-finals before knocking off the two-time reigning champion University of Illinois to claim their first title at the tournament. Held at the acclaimed East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, GA, the event features the top NCAA Division I men’s and women’s teams from the previous season.
“Vanderbilt University has been a lasting contender in men’s golf and we are proud to be the golf ball choice for their team and pleased with the success they are having,” says Todd Corum of Bridgestone Golf.
The company officially announced their sponsorship of Vanderbilt earlier this year and supplies the Commodores with custom-logoed golf balls. Players underwent Bridgestone’s industry leading ball-fitting analysis to identify the model that maximizes their on-course potential.
“The East Lake Cup is one of the most highly anticipated events of our season and it’s a great feeling to win it for the first time,” says Scott Limbaugh, Vanderbilt’s Men’s Golf Head Coach. “Our guys wanted to steal the show this week, and they did.”
“We are thrilled for the team, and seeing them clinch their first East Lake Cup Championship in our backyard of Atlanta makes it even better.” says Heather Arnold of Bridgestone Golf. “We’re honored to work with a number of wonderful collegiate programs, including the University of Oklahoma, who also had a great finish at East Lake. We’re proud of both squads and all they accomplish on and off the course.”
